## Hybrid Cloud and Public Cloud Repatriation
PRO-ZETA Tier5 also works alongside AWS, Azure and Google Cloud rather than only replacing them. Our position is that most companies should not leave the public cloud entirely. What pays off is relocating the part of the workload that is static, data-heavy or expensive to serve outbound.

The core economic mechanism: hyperscalers do not charge for inbound data transfer, and PRO-ZETA does not charge for outbound. Data stored with PRO-ZETA and processed in a public cloud therefore transfers free on both sides. The reverse arrangement — data in object storage at a hyperscaler with compute elsewhere — is billed on every read.

Reference egress list prices as of August 2026: AWS eu-central-1 USD 0.09/GB above a free 100 GB per month; Azure West Europe USD 0.08/GB above a free 100 GB; Google Cloud Premium Tier USD 0.12/GiB above a free 1 GiB. PRO-ZETA Tier5: no egress charge, no cap.

### When the public cloud is the better choice
PRO-ZETA does not claim the public cloud is always the wrong answer. It is the better choice for globally distributed services, genuinely unpredictable peaks, experimental development with an uncertain future, proprietary managed services with no portable equivalent (AWS Lambda, BigQuery, Bedrock, DynamoDB), teams without operations capacity, and startups still consuming cloud credits.

### Regulatory context
Under Article 29 of EU Regulation 2023/2854 (Data Act), from 12 January 2027 providers may not charge switching fees; the definition in Article 2(36) explicitly includes data egress charges. This covers egress on exit, not ordinary operational egress. Where both providers are used in parallel — a hybrid setup — Article 34(2) applies and egress remains billable, capped at the costs actually incurred.
